Nancy H. Harris

In the pre-school setting for many years, my favorite place to be was “The Art Table.” My skill with crewel embroidery, gardening, and my daughter's influence, led to full-time visual art.
Works on paper, 3-D boxes embellished with toys and re-cycled materials evolved to pen and water-colored drawings. A series of sketchbooks containing my pictures and stories blend the natural world, fantasy, and whimsical design.
Moving from the Chicago area to New Mexico, my semi-rural home was the beginning of looking at terrain differently. Dried elements of trees, bushes, and cacti became caricature sculpture. A bird house in a shop had something missing: the bird itself. So homes with residents became sculptural pieces too.
I live in Corrales with my husband “Bugs”, and dog Lyla.
